Impacts from TS Idalia are expected to affect James Island Wednesday August 30th from midafternoon until the early morning hours on Thursday, August 31st. The Solid Waste Dept. will run on a limited schedule on Wednesday, focusing on garbage collection and as much yard debris and bulk items as we can. We will evaluate the conditions Thursday morning and we are currently planning a delayed start, this is subject to change depending on conditions. If we cannot operate safely Thursday, garbage collection will take place on Friday September 1st. Please refrain from putting out large yard debris piles and bulk items out until after the storm passes. Also, all small debris MUST be bagged. Please don’t rake loose piles onto the road, they create a hazard during high winds. We will continue to monitor the conditions and post updates if the situation changes. Please stay safe.
